Jake Berry MP attends Whitworth Rushcart celebrations
Jake attended the annual Whitworth Rushcart celebrations on the afternoon of Sunday 11 September.
The procession left from North Street car park in Whitworth, at 1.00pm and featured numerous traditional morris dance troupes including the famous Britannia Coconutters and the Whitworth Morris Men.
The Rushcart procession then travelled north up Market Street before eventually arriving at The Riverside.
Jake said:
‘This was is a family friendly event which saw a great turnout. The car park at the Riverside played host to a fantastic variety of stalls, entertainments, and performances from the various morris dancing troupes, plus the Whitworth Vale and Healey Youth Band. There was also traditional hot food provided by St Bartholomew’s Church and liquid refreshments at the Riverside bar. It was a wonderful day and it gave me great pleasure to see the Whitworth community coming together to enjoy themselves. I look forward to see what next year’s procession brings.
