Jake Berry MP encourages local charities to apply for Microsoft software donations
Jake Berry, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, is encouraging charities in Rossendale and Darwen to apply to Microsoft for a free software donation.
Working with the Charity Technology Trust (Registered Charity No.1073954) through their Charity Technology Exchange service, Microsoft is one of a growing number of technology companies who make donations of their products to the voluntary sector.
Microsoft offers eligible organisations up to ten titles, including its most popular software packages such as Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. Organisations can receive up to 50 licences of each title every two year period. Donations include free upgrades for two years and access to a range of e-learning resources. T he majority of charities are eligible and there are no limits on the number of organisations who can receive a donation. Grantees pay a nominal administrative fee to the Charity Technology Exchange, which supports the running of the services.
Jake Berry said:
‘I very much welcome these sorts of initiatives where companies are willing to use their resources to put something back into the community. Little World Limited, centred in Bacup, has already received a software donation from Microsoft over the past two years.
I would really encourage other local charities to apply for a donation as any money saved in IT costs can be ploughed back into the good cause that they support.’
