Valley MP, Jake Berry, makes a positive impression on new colleagues on all sides of the House
Rossendale and Darwen MP, Jake Berry, was named one of only twelve new MPs who have made the biggest impact in their first term in Parliament.
In an article in The Times last Friday, Shadow Justice Secretary and Blackburn MP, Jack Straw, described how the influx of new MPs in 2010 has changed the atmosphere of Parliament for the better. Mr Straw then named his top twelve new MPs who have contributed to this, identifying Jake Berry MP among them.
Mr Straw described six Conservative MPs, five Labour MPs and one Liberal Democrat MP who have made an impact on Parliament since their arrival in May.
Jake Berry, in response, commented “I am thrilled that my work on behalf of Rossendale and Darwen has been recognised in Parliament. I strive to highlight issues of importance within the constituency in the House of Commons and will continue to campaign to keep matters affecting Rossendale and Darwen at the top of the agenda.
“Since my election I have continually fought to raise awareness of many of the issues affecting the constituency, such as supporting apprenticeships in Rossendale and redevelopment of our town centres.
“The end of term brought a welcome chance to talk in the last debate. This is traditionally a chance for MPs to bring up issues they hold dear. I talked about the need for the rail link to Rawtenstall. I have been working hard to raise the profile of this issue as I believe it is hugely important for the future prosperity of the constituency.
“I am now looking forward to working hard on your behalf in the constituency over the summer months.”
