Jake congratulates Civic Pride on Rossendale Big Society Works Awards win
Jake is delighted that Civic Pride has seen all its hard work in the Valley rewarded.
Civic Pride were awarded the Rossendale Big Society Works award for September. Civic Pride is a voluntary organisation formed over 10 years ago; helpers spend some of their spare time clearing litter, tidying grot-spots, planting and maintaining gardens around the Rossendale Valley.
A different person or group of people will be chosen for the awards every month from local nominations. Each winner will receive a £50 donation to a good cause, a visit from their Member of Parliament and other local elected representatives and, crucially, help and advice about how to access funds for their project. At the end of the Year, the overall winner will have the opportunity to visit Parliament for a day and receive a £200 donation to their cause.
Jake said:
‘I am very pleased that Civic Pride have been nominated for the award. I was given a tour of the Valley in August to see all the great work that Civic Pride volunteers have been doing and it was wonderful to be greeted by clean public areas and the beautiful flowers that they have planted. There have been noticeable improvements to Rossendale due to their efforts and I am pleased that they have been recognised by the local community.’
