Lovely Lola seeks outright Tory win
Lovely Lola, the Poodle belonging to Jake Berry MP will be hoping for a decisive Conservative victory when she enters the 18th Westminster Dog of the Year competition on 2nd November 2010.
Proud owner Jake explains, “Lola is my loyal companion and an important part of the family. She played an important role in meeting and greeting the people of my constituency during the campaign trail and I’m hoping this friendly nature will win over the judges on the day and secure her victory”.
The Westminster Dog of The Year competition, organised by Dogs Trust and the Kennel Club, aims to highlight the unique relationship between man and dog. The competition is open to all Parliamentary pooches, regardless of breed or ‘pawlitical’ persuasion.
With not a spin doctor or focus group in sight, the Westminster Dog of the Year competition is more than just a beauty competition and provides an opportunity for MPs to promote responsible dog ownership – poop scoop bag and all. Judges include Clarissa Baldwin (CEO Dogs Trust) and Caroline Kisko (Secretary, the Kennel Club.)
The final takes place at 10.30am on Tuesday 2nd November at Victoria Tower Gardens, next to the House of Lords. There will an assortment of canine competitors belonging to MPs, some that have competed before with their owners, and some that are new to the cut and thrust of Westminster. Dogs belonging to Westminster correspondents have also been invited along.
