Rossendale rover Lola scoops second place at Westminster Dog of the Year competition
Lovely Lola, the Poodle belonging to Jake Berry MP came a respectable second when she entered the 18th Westminster Dog of the Year competition today.
Proud owner Jake explains, “Lola is my loyal companion and an important part of the family. She played an important role in meeting and greeting the people of my constituency during the campaign trail and has a very friendly nature.” Lola herself declined to comment.
The Westminster Dog of The Year competition, organised by Dogs Trust and the Kennel Club, aims to highlight the unique relationship between man and dog. The competition is open to all Parliamentary pooches, regardless of breed or ‘paw-litical’ persuasion.
The competition is more than just a beauty contest and provides an opportunity for MPs to promote responsible dog ownership – poop scoop bags and all. Judges included Clarissa Baldwin (CEO Dogs Trust) and Caroline Kisko (Secretary, the Kennel Club.)
The final took place today at Victoria Tower Gardens, next to the House of Lords.
