£1.5 million for 10 NHS staff whilst CAB services decimated
Shocking statistics reveal remunerations of £1.5 million for just ten officials at NHS East Lancashire.
Jake Berry MP for Rossendale and Darwen commented, “Those same officials ended the Citizens Advice Bureau service in GP surgeries which cost a paltry 1.36% of their remunerations, just over the total amount spent on the same officials’ travel expenses.
“This service helped 250 people last year with debt, benefits, housing, employment and other issues. Each client benefitted on average by £1,000 in extra income from benefits and tax credits. The service was proved to help people with their mental health and to reduce the anti-depressants bill.
“I suggest that the officials should reconsider axing this vital service and look to carrying out efficiency cuts from other areas that do not impinge on front-line services.”
