Jake Berry MP Takes Urgent Care Centre Off Critical List
Local MP, Jake Berry, met with representatives from the PCT to discuss the Rossendale Primary Health Care Centre, or the Hub as it is known locally. Following Jake’s campaign the PCT have pledged to establish an Urgent Care Centre. There will be a follow up meeting with local GPs in June to agree the details of this new facility.
Jake said,’Following this interim meeting I am happy to say that the future of the Health Hub looks brighter. Whilst negotiations remain ongoing, the PCT has acknowledged that it has made a firm commitment to a seven day Urgent Care Unit in Rossendale.’
Steve Spoerry, Chief Executive of the NHS in East Lancashire, said, ‘This again has been a positive meeting. We have set a clear direction of travel towards an urgent care unit in the Valley’.
Gladys Sandiford, Local Councillor in Rossendale, said, ‘We always knew that this was a commitment not an aspiration. I am pleased that the PCT are keeping their word’.
Jake added, ‘This is significant progress. Things won’t happen overnight but I am delighted with the clear commitment of the PCT to Valley residents.
