Jake Berry MP to Discuss Rochdale Infirmary Closures with NHS
In June Jake Berry, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, will meet Sir Jonathan Asbridge, the Programmes Director of the NHS Healthy Futures Assurance Board, to discuss imminent closures at Rochdale Infirmary.
Jake said, ‘There has been public outcry at the scheduled programme of closures in Rochdale. I know that savings have to be made as a result of Labour maxing out the country’s credit card. But these closures will affect people’s lives and these plans must be changed.’
The changes are part of the NHS Healthy Futures and Making it Better reconfiguration programmes. Sir Jonathan Asbridge and the Assurance Board represent the organisations responsible for the implementation of these changes.
Rochdale Infirmary’s A&E department was redesignated as an Urgent Care Center at the start of April and various inpatient services are set to close, or have already ceased.
Jake said, ‘It is outrageous that patients requiring emergency care are now taken to the nearest A&E departments in Crumpsall, Oldham or Bury. I hope that discussions may bring a rethink on these discredited Labour plans.’
